Refuse the thought

"Would you like some another credit card?"

"No, thank you."

"Would you like  a second helping of dessert?"

"No, thank you."

Would you like a cigarette?

"No, thank you."

We refuse things we don't want all the time.  It is not hard to do. We just say no.

This is what I recommend we do with the  negative thoughts that appear in our minds.

Just refuse the thought.

"No, thank you, not today.  That thought doesn't feel good."

No matter how many times someone asks me if I want a cigarette, I am always going to politely decline.  This may not deter them from asking over and over-just like a thought might reappear over and over. It doesn't matter though.  As long as I don't accept and refuse, I don't have to feel the effects of that negative habit or thought.

"You should work harder."

"No, thanks."

"You aren't good enough."

"No, thanks."

"You know you aren't going to be able to pull this off."

"No, thanks."

"You aren't really good at this."

"No, thanks."

"You should join the PTA."

"Seriously, no."

"You are the luckiest girl in the world."

"Don't mind if I do."
