Pam Slim's book, ESCAPE FROM CUBICLE NATION, just got delivered to my home today.
Pam is one of my friends who just made her own dream of writing a book come true.
I am filled with chills as I hold this very thick book in my hands. I am so happy for her. I am so proud of her. I am in awe of her. Writing a book is a huge endeavor. Being willing to write a book that people will read and have an opinion about is a very brave thing to do.
I haven't read the whole thing yet (although I will read every word); but I noticed towards the end, Pam asks some questions that will serve anyone in their life. Even though her book is about and for people who want to leave Corporate America and start their own businesses, the book is also for anyone who wants to live their dream on their own terms.
Here are a few of her brilliant questions:
1. Will I be a better, smarter, more compassionate human being for having attempted this, regardless of the outcome?
2. What will make me a little bit less like the guy in the "Cat's in the Cradle" song?
3. Will the world be a little bit better because of my efforts?
Whatever decision you are trying to make-you can't go wrong asking these questions.
If you are trying to decide whether or not to buy Pam's book, I will make it very easy for you: buying this book does make the world a little bit better, so buy it now.
Thank you for supporting my girl and her dream. And if you read it and do what it says-thank you for living your own.
