Chance of a Lifetime, Everyone Else is Afraid

I'm such a groupie.

I'm reading Seth Godin's new book right now:  Poke the Box

Poke the Box means:  To start. To initiate. To begin. Go.

It's so good. You should buy it.

Anyway, like a sheepish fan, I nervously sent him an email. Curious about his mind in relation to my Self Coaching model.

I know he is super successful busy smart important amazing influential popular and that he most likely wouldn't  be able to take the time to reply.

BUT HE DID.

FIVE MINUTES AFTER I EMAILED HIM, HE REPLIED!

And like a ridiculous school girl, I squealed with glee.

I obviously have a mind crush on him-please forgive.

Anyway, here is my email and his reply:

Hey Seth-

I am loving your new book, Poke the Box-(audio version).

I am curious about your mind and was hoping you would do me a small favor.

I created a cognitive model I use with my clients:

CIRCUMSTANCES

trigger

THOUGHTS

cause

FEELINGS

cause

ACTIONS

cause

RESULTS

Here is an example  from a client to demonstrate:

CIRCUMSTANCE: Current economy

THOUGHTS  There is very little opportunity right now

FEELINGS: Hopeless

ACTIONS:  Haphazardly send resumes through Monster.com

RESULTS: No one calls

If we ran this model for you.  What would you say is your daily thought (just one) that gets you this result?

CIRCUMSTANCES : Current economy

THOUGHT

FEELING

ACTIONS

RESULTS :  An interesting blog each day with thousands of readers

I understand you are busy and might not have time-and that is totally cool.

But if you do reply-I would love to share your example with my students.  It is a great demonstration that it isn't our circumstances-but our minds that create our results.

 Thanks

 Brooke Castillo

Everyone else is afraid.

I hope he isn't talking about you.

I hope you aren't afraid.

I'm not.

I sent an email to Seth Godin.
